Outlook Express slow or won't open

My sister had Mccafee virus scan and I removed ,after much reading I found
out Mc virus scan removal can cause many problems,I have read articles about
doing a reg repair,I have cleaned all the normal things ,shut off auto
complete.
The symptoms are:Very seldom it will open and operate,most times outline and
header will pop up but cant get to tools,etc.I would appreciate best
fix,whatever it may be.
Her system:Windows Xp Home,512,40gb on cable normal cpu

Did you say Outlook Express?
