outlook express strange behavior

A few days ago, I noticed the following behavior when starting Outlook Express:

1. The programs starts normally and displays the opening screen.
2. The screen will clear as if it is going to stop responding.
3. The screen comes back to the opening Outlook express screen and all mail
has been processed.

I did run some virus scan and malware checking programs and it did find one
thing which was removed.

I really do not want to go back to a restore point because I am not sure
when the problem was introduced.

Is there any way to run a "repair" on Outlook Express 6?

Try posting this in an Outlook Express news group - this is not one of them.
Outlook is a part of Microsoft Office and is what this group supports.
