Outlook Express to Windows Mail

Hi, I have an old computer with XP and Outlook Express. I purchased a new
laptop with Vista and Windows Mail. I'd like to transfer my contacts and
emails from the old computer (Express) to the new laptop (Windows Mail) but
when I do the export on the Outlook Express I get an error message about
initializing MAPI. I read that is because Outlook isn't loaded. Is there an
easy way to export from Express on one computer to Windows Mail on another?
If so, please tell me how or direct me to the instructions.
