Outlook Express won't delete and closes with error

I had problem with my McAfee Personal Firewall and VirusScan and once those
were fixed I now have a problem with Outlook Express.

When I try to manually delete an email from the Delete folder, I get no
message, but the email stays in the folder. When I close down Outlook
Express, I get the following message, "Some of the items could not be deleted
from the Deleted Items Folder. An error has occured." The "deleted" emails
cannot be deleted or moved.

Furthermore, if I try to close OutlookExpress without clicking OK at the
error message I get Program Error stating that msimn.exe has generated errors
and will be closed by Windows.

Any help anyone can give me would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Jo

I should explain also that I have Outlook Express set up to delete all files
in the Delete folder when I close the OE Application. That was when I first
noticed the problem.
Thanks,
Jo

This Newsgroup deals with MS Office Outlook issues. Outlook
Express is a part of Internet Explorer, which is in turn a
part of the operating system. The Outlook Express gugu's
hang out here:

I renamed the Deleted Items.dbx file and then restarted Outlook Express. I
can now remove deleted items manually and when I close down, the error
message is no longer displayed and the system removes the deleted files. It
appears that I stumbled onto the fix - a corrupt dbx file .........however,
have I screwed something else up?

Thanks,
JO

You've done exactly the correct thing. Don't worry.
