Outlook Express/XP/Spell check

I'm running XP and Office 97. When I send an e-mail from
Outlook express it will not check the spelling, even
though I have checked the "check spelling before sending"
option. It seems that the spell checker fails every time.
Anyone got the answer?

Try posting this in an Outlook Express group - it is not an Office problem.
