"Outlook failed to start" will not open in safe mode either

Outlook 2003 has been working fine. Over the weekend I installed Turbo Tax &
now I can't get outlook to open. It prompts me insert the CD, which I do &
it looks like it reinstalls, but it does not solve the pblm. I noticed Turbo
Tax installed a MS .net framework file - could that be causing the pblm?

Any help would be appreciated.

The bigger question is, does Outlook start working again if you uninstall
Turbo Tax and the .NET Framework?

Just so you know, I have .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, and 3 installed on my
workstation with Office/Outlook 2003 with SP3 and everything works fine.
Also very surprised that Outlook won't start in safe mode since that is the
major switch that turns off 3rd party integration.

If push comes to shove, can you create a new userid on your Windows
2000/XP/Vista workstation and see if Outlook works under the new userid?
The reason I ask is that this will help you isolate the problem to being
user id (profile) or machine specific.

Thanks Neo, it does work when I do a system restore. I did create a new user
id & it does open up - so I guess it is user id specific. How can I fix that?
Thanks again

Start with something easy like creating a new mail profile via the mail
applet in the control panel. Just whatever you do, don't copy the existing
mail profile. Create a new one and try it. If it works great with your
existing PST file(s), just switch to it permanently and delete the old
e-mail profile.
