Outlook freezes everytime

My outlook (2003) freezes everytime I click on a message with an attachment.
I tried everything, repair, virus/spyware scan, re-start, update...

My current PST size is less than 1 GB.

I found one method to get the program to work, that is to conduct a detect
and repair EVERY single time I start the program and then restart and outlook
will function normally. This is a pain in the neck, please help!!!

If you start with a new profile, and then open the old PST file, can you
still duplicate the issue?
