Outlook "freezes" on "reply" when I set Word as my HTML editor?

Iam using Office 2003 and have Word selected as HTML and rich text editor, in
Windows XP. For no apparent reason I found I was unable to forward or reply
to messages. I removed/reinstalled Office with no change and eventually found
a solution by deselcting Word as editor; however, I would prefer to use it.
Any suggestions? At one stage I thought it was some conflict with the Office
Assistant and tried turning this on and off, to no avail. (I am no fan of the
Office Assistant!)

Did you find a solution other than nor using Word as your Editor ?
