Subject: RE: Outlook freezes up
Dear Best,
From your description, I understand that Outlook 2000 freezes when moving
files from Inbox to the Archive folder and the emails in the Archive
folder
failed to be removed. In addition, the size of the Archive PST file is
1.2
GB. If there has been any misunderstanding, please let me know.
I would like to explain that the Outlook performance issues are more
likely
to occur when the size of the .pst file or the size of the .ost file
approaches 2 GB. The current issue may be due to the large data file and
it
is better to reduce the size of the data file.
In the meantime, to troubleshoot the issue, I recommend we follow the
steps
below:
Start Outlook in Safe Mode
*******************************
1. Click Start, and click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: "Outlook /safe" (without the quotation marks).
Notes: There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash
(/).
3. Click OK.
4. Please check whether Outlook freezes or not.
I also would like to share the following website with you and please
perform the steps on it:
OL2000: (CW) Folder Archiving Stops Working
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197750
If the issue is not resolved, I would appreciate it if you could provide
the following information:
1. Does the Outlook still freeze after finishing the scan of the PST file?
2. Does Outlook freeze when sending or composing emails?
3. Does the same issue occur on other computers in your office?
4. Do you enable the option "Allow upgrade to large tables" in Outlook?
For more information about this option, please refer to the following
article:
"Allow upgrades to large tables" extends the limit of PST

Hi
Outlook 2000
When a user tries to move any email from Inbox to the Archive folder
(pst),
it freezes up, i.e. I can see as if the email is transferring but this
would
not do it. the small windows remains as is. When you press cancel, it
freezes up and will have to kill it from Task mamager. Tried to run
scanpst,
it took long without result and when I tried to cancel it, it freezes
up.
The Archive folders are large and thought by deleting some of the email
may
fix this. Now I can't even delete some of the emails.
Any ideas please ?
Thanks
Best
