outlook freezes when i attempt to reply, forward or open a link

for the last three days, outlook has frozen whenever I try to reply to or
forward an email message. It also freezes if I click on a web link in an
email message. As far as I know, I haven't changed any options, but whenever
I attempt to do anything with a message, the program quits responding, and I
could wait until hell freezes over unless I use the task manager to end the
program. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
