Outlook freezes

Mine and a friend of mines Outlook has been freezing up
and has not been functioning. Pretty much it has not been
responding, so I had to end the task. I want to know if
there is a way to fix this problem without recreating a
new profile, which my friend did. We tried installing the
updates but this does not work. Any suggestions?
