Outlook getting invalid username when connecting to project server

Posting this again, in the correct group, per recommendation of Dale A.
Howard.

I can login to the project server via the browser and Project Pro 2003.

I can create new projects in Project Pro and publish them. But, I
cannot connect to the server via the Outlook plugin. Whenever I try I
get an "invalid username or password" error message.

I have checked the Project Web Access settings in Outlook and verified
they are correct. The server is set to the same as it is in Project
Pro. I've tried the username as just the name, and tried it as
Server\username. Nothing seems to fix the problem.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Update: The recommendation from Dale A. Howard was verify that the url
for the project server was correct (tools|options|Project Web
Access|verify login|click test, etc.). As I stated above, I have
verified that is correct. The URL is for Project Server is identical
to the setting for the collaboration server in Project Pro 2003 which
can access the server without any problems. The client can also
resolve the hostname, fqdn, domain name, etc.

Any help would be appeciated.

I'll make another stab at solving your problem. In Outlook, when you click
Tools - Options - Project Web Access, and then click the "Enter login
information" button, have you selected "Use windows user account" as the
"When connecting" option? If not, do so and let us know the results.

I've tried it both ways. Both with the Windows User Account selected,
and with project server account. On the project server the account is
configured to use windows user authentication, not project server
authentication so the "project server account" selection in Outlook
shouldn't work regardless.

And, in the event there was something fubared with the account or the
computer I am working on, I've tried this from a different computer
with a different account. Same problem, I can connect via the web and
via MS Project Pro but not via Outlook.

Thanks for your help.
