Hi,
it happened to a friend of mine, a couple of times, that Outlook 2003
could not download (POP3) or send (SMTP) mails anymore from/to a single
mail account. All other parts of Outlook continued working regularly,
including other mail accounts on different servers. Outlook seemed to
try connecting for a while, and eventually gave up; but the strange
thing is that, by looking at the server logs in real time (I'm the one
who manages the mail server), I could see that Outlook was not trying to
connect at all, I received no connection requests from that client.
At the same time, other users were using the same mail server without
any problems. So it cannot be a server problem.
The only solution we found was to reboot the client machine; then
Outlook started working again as expected.
Did it ever happen to you? Any clues?
Thanks.
