Outlook hanging when I try to forward

P

Polli

This has begun in the last month, using Outlook 2003, with XP sp3

I will hit forward, then type a message. When I hit send, I get a message
that Word has to close. Then it recovers the message. But after that
Outlook freezes, anytime I click on it I get a beep. When I end the process
in task manager, the error reporting gives this:
szAppName : OUTLOOK.EXE szAppVer : 11.0.8217.0 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

I find the only way to forward that particular message is to copy the
contents to a new email. This doesn't happen on all forwards, and
occasionally happens on a reply as well.

I have tried the scanpst.exe tool, as well as running virus scans, chkdisk,
cleanup and defrag.

What next? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Does it work when you have Outlook set as the email editor instead of Word?
If so, it might indicate a conflict with a Word addin that you might have
installed.

I don't know, I always use HTML messages since I do email announcements for a
group of 100 families. I don't believe I have installed any addins lately.
Is there somewhere to check?

That has nothing to to with your email editor.
Switch it to Outlook and post back results.
Tools-> Options-> tab Message Format

I have made the change and will report back. It only happens occasionally,
so it may be a while before I'm sure if there's a change.

Again, thanks for your help!

After disabling Word as editor, I found that there were about 20 Google
Desktop buttons hidden in the Outlook Toolbar! I have deleted all of them.
There is also an Avery Assistant Toolbar.

So far things are doing well. Is it possible the multiple Google Desktop
Toolbars were causing problems?
