Outlook Hangs

I am getting persistent problems with outlook hanging both after startup and
again at shutdown. I have done the usual removed all the add-ins scaned the
pst file, reinstalled office. The error source is application hang event
1002. 'Hanging application Outlook.exe Version 11.0.8228.0' The machine is a
Sony Vaio TX3HP running windows XP pro with all the updates service packs etc
