Outlook help needed please...

Hi

I have just changed email programs from MS Outlook Express 6 to Outlook, and
while it is doubtless more reliable, it doesn't seem half as thorough, or
quick as OE. There are various things that I can't seem to configure
(despite having futiley combed the help section) and was wondering if anyone
could please help me?

Firstly, is there a way to keep Bcc on the blank email screen instead of
going into the address book? I'm terrified I'll cc something by mistake!

Is there a way of putting multiple email addresses in a dropdown 'from' menu
instead of having to always click on accounts to change the sender?

How do you request a read receipt?... or indeed can you?

How do I stop the signature automatically appearing on an email?

I was told by the help section that you could delete messages when you had
archived them, to free up space, yet despite trying to do this, my inbox is
still jam packed. How can I do this please, without having to sit there
pressing the delete button for hours on end?

Lastly, I saw on a friend's outlook, that they had set up their mailboxes
with headers as to when the mail was received... eg: received today, and then
a list of emails, received yesterday / on 24/9/06 etc. How do I set this up
please?

Pardon my ignorance but I am a technophobe! Any help or advice gratefully
received

Cheers

Is there also a way of enabling predictive mode when typing in email
addresses in the to box, rather than always having to go into the address
book?

Whenever you post a question, include your Outlook version. The following
answers apply to Outlook 2003. They may be slightly different for other
versions.

Open a new message, click View, and check "Bcc FIeld". The Bcc field should
appear each time you open a compose window.

No. The Accounts button acts as that drop-down.
How do you request a read receipt?... or indeed can you?

On a per-message basis, when composing the message, click View>Options and
check the appropriate boxes. On a permanent basis, click
Tools>Options>E-mail Options>Tracking Options and check the appropriate
boxes.

Don't include it. Tools>Options>Mail Format.

Autoarchive does not work on the received date. Instead it uses the
modified date. When your items are old enough, if you've enabled
autoarchive on Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive and have selected an archive
inverval, your messages will get moved to the Archive PST as soon as their
modified dates become older than the archive date you've selected.

View>Arrange By>Show in Groups, but this should be the default.

A true technophobe would be too afraid of a computer to use one. I suspect
you're merely a technonaif.

Gem,

You need to specify your Outlook version and revision level (SP#) in order to
get proper answers.

I could answer most of your questions, but I'm using Outlook 2002 SP3 and my
answers may only confuse you if you're running something else.

I've noticed that the MVPs monitoring this newsgroup prefer addressing only one
issue per post, so you may have to break up your queries into separate posts.
Wait for a reply from one of them before doing so.

Thanks for all your answers, which are much appreciated.

I can't seem to find the >Arrange By>Show in Groups, section on my outlook
view toolbar and instead of one header for each day, with all the
received/sent/whatever messages listed underneath, I now have a header for
each email which I have to click on a plus button to open. This is sort of a
result but not as my friend has. How can I set up a heading for a group of
messages, rather than for each, please anybody?

Thanks

Well, you never did say what version of Outlook you're using, at least that
I saw. Menus are different for different versions of Outlook and you should
always state your Outlook version when posting a question. How about
sharing that information now?
