Outlook - How does it know Messages have already been Downloaded??

How does Outlook know it has downloaded messages so as not to download
again?, Where does it store this info?
I have transfered to a new pc and dont want to download hundreds of
duplicate messages????

win xp and outlook 2003

it's stored as a hidden file in the pst and linked the account information -
so you'll likely have to download all of the messages again unless you can
log in online and create a new folder to move them to.
