Outlook: how to create an import custom field map

I need to import contact data from ACT; Outlook supports this task. However,
I must associate the field names between the two programs during the import
process.
Since I have a very large database, I wish to do it in pieces. (The transfer
has crashed several times, I think because some of the ACT data may be
currupt.) Therefore I have to reassociate fields each time.
Is there a way to automate this or preserve the field map that I created?
