Outlook icon disappears from task bar

I would appreciate any help in resolving a minor issue that has been
irritating me.

I have Outlook from Office 2007 Standard and the Outlook icon disappears
from the task bar occasionally. It usually happens when Outlook is
downloading emails or is opening an email [it seems to be when it is
momentarily freezing up or overloaded]. The icon disappears from the task
bar and is usually then found in the Quicklaunch toolbar.

The problem is that I am a little anal [well, maybe more than a bit] but I
prefer the Outlook task bar icon to be in the far left corner where I can
find it instantly since I often have five or more icons in the task bar at
any one time. I always open Outlook first so that it is in the left corner
but when it disappears I have to then reopen it and it then ends up elsewhere
buried among the icons in the Task Bar. It is dawning on me that I might
just want to use the Quick Launch bar to access Outlook but in lieu of that
is it possible to 'pin' the Outlook icon in the left corner of the Task Bar
in some way or eliminate its disappearing periodically?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Dave McMillan.
