Outlook inserts blank spaces / changes text color to blue :(

I'm sending a mail back and forth to a colleague, and every time I change
something, Outlook "helps" me by turning my text to blue instead of black and
inserting blank spaces before and after my edit. So changing a simple
spelling error means 5 keypresses instead of 1. It's really driving me to the
edge of sanity and I can't find where to turn it off...

First, click Tools>Options>E-mail Options. See if "Mark my comments with"
is checked. Also check the mail format (i.e., Rich Text, HTML, Plain Text).
Different formats behave differently and what you're describing is common
for Rich Text messages. Click Tools>Options>Mail Format>Fonts and examine
the "When replying or forwarding" font setting. It's probably blue. Change
it with the "Choose Font" button next to the entry.
