Outlook Install Problem

J

John

For some reason outlook help files have stopped working. I continually get a
message saying there is a problem with some files please repair, which I have
done. I have tried uninstalling the whole office suite and reinstalling it
but it makes no difference I still cannot get the help files in any MSOffice
application. Outlook and word seem to be crashing a lot as well.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

What Office version on what o/s?
And does Event Viewer give any clues for the crashes?

Try starting Outlook using the safe switch
Run
Outlook.exe /safe (a space between, exe /)
see how it performs then

Do you have any AV intergrated with office (ie scanning both mail and Office
components)?

Hi

Makes no difference whatsoever. Still saying there is a problem with one or
more help files try repairing - which I have done. I have even uninstalled
the whole thing and reinstalled it but it makes no difference.

Nothing intergrated.

Are you saying Outlook still crashes when starting with the safe switch, or
only that help doesnt work?

The safe switch has no impact on help files, but may stop crashes

Safe mode has no effect at all :

You have a problem with your o/s
I'm not upto speed on Vista, but you might want see what options you have to
repair Vista - one option in winxp was the system File checker -
You might want to post to a Vista group, re repair options, which might
depend on whether you have only a restore cd or an actual Vista installation
disk

Many thanks. I will do.
