Outlook installation unable to start, missing file.

I have upgraded to XP and have Office 2000 pro installed,
but I am unable to start Outlook. I receive the
error "The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MAPI\nt\omint.dll is not a valid Windows
image. Please check this against your installation
diskette" I have tried reinstalling several times to no
avail. I have tried the Service Pack Upgrade downloads
but these will not install either.

My system is single user, home PC.

Help please!

Thank you

Kevin
