Outlook interrupts foreground processing when minimized

Periodically, when Outlook is running minimized, and I am using another
program, Outlook will interrupt the program, minimize it, and bring me back
to the desktop. It is doing something at the time because I can hear the
computer going, but Outlook stays minimized. How do I stop this behavior? I
know it must be a setting, because it didn't do this before. It seems like it
does this every 5 to 10 minutes. Can anyone help me?

Why would you expect Outlook to be minimizing your other application?

Considering the regular time interval I would expect it has something to do
with what happens during the send/receive interval. It could be that your
virus scanner addin doesn't handle well when Outlook is minimized. Disable
its integration with Outlook and try again.

Because it doesn't happen when Outlook is not running. And pretty regularly
when Outlook is running.

It does this when Outlook is working offline, and my anti-virus was in place
long before it started doing this. I'll try disabling the Internet connection
and see if it still does it. If so, I'll disable my security package and test
again. I'll post my results here.Thank you for taking the time to respond.

In the process of doing the troubleshooting I outlined in my previous reply,
I found the problem. We are connected to the Internet via a router, so I just
disable my LAN Connection to cut out the Internet. Well, I had done this, and
was running Outlook, when an add-in I have called Office Calendar popped up
an error message saying it couldn't reach its server (which was correct,
Internet was down). I hit "Ignore", which was supposed to make it operate
offline until Outlook is restarted. Well, I started the foreground process to
do the test. The process was interrupted, but there was another error message
from Office Calendar. Every time my foreground process was interrupted, there
was another error message from Office Calendar.

So I said "Aha", and set Office Calendar off and ran another test. No
interrupts. So I set Office Calendar to only synchronize once a day instead
of every 15 minutes, and set things back to normal. No interrupts. So the
problem is with Office Calendar.

Thank you for your help.
