Outlook Invalid Cert Error

I'm new to the encryption process, but I've downloaded a cert, inserted it
into every corner of Outlook 2003 (from the main window tools->options and in
the message window options->security settings, etc.) I just downloaded it an
hour ago and imported the cert and when I attempt to send the message with
the "add digital signature to this message" box checked, I get the error
message: "

Microsoft Office Outlook could not sign or encrypt this message because your
certificate is not valid"

I don't use Microsoft Exchange, My Outlook is working online (not offline),
so I'm not sure that those tech solutions given apply to me.

Does the email address in the cert match the account email address you are
trying to send the message from? (for example, if the cert is stamped with
a (e-mail address removed) and your isp account is (e-mail address removed), then the cert
can only be used by an account that has the (e-mail address removed) email address.)

Outside of that, I usually install the s/mime certificate thru Internet
Explorer's Tools > Internet Options > Content tab > Certificate > Personal
tab > Import button.

Yes the account email origin does match the cert. Still get the same message
a day later, so the solution can't be that it takes a few hours to work
itself out. I also tried importing the cert through internet explorer rather
than through mozilla. Same error result.

Assuming that you still have the original certificate supplied to you by
<?>, you might try removing it, reboot, open outlook and make sure that any
references to it are gone, close outlook, and then reinstall the certificate
thru Internet Explorer.
