outlook is not responding

I receive error message: Outlook is not responding. If you are using an
Exchange server e-mail account, you can cancel pending server requests by
clicking Outlook icon in the notification area, and then clicking Cancel
Server Requests on the shortcut menu.

When I click on the Outlook icon in the notification area, I get the error
message again. When I restart the pc and get to the point of opening personal
folder, I get an error message.

I am unable to read mails and my work depends 75% on email. SOS to anyone
who can help me.
