Outlook japanesse version on English OS

Windows xp running Japanesse version of Office 2000 will
not display folder names in outlook correctly. All
characters display as ?????. I mean Calendar, Inbox, Sent
Items, etc. Has anyone seen this or know of a fix to
resolve the language incompatibility.

Have you installed all the regional settings to the system ?? You should
probably do this before installing the JP version Outlook, I belive the
system does not recognize the character coding provided by the Outlook
installation program. But that'sa just my humble opinion :)
