Outlook Journal Items Disappear

I have been having numerous problems with Outlook since trying to install it
on a new computer that has Windows Vista Home Premium. The current issue is
that whenever I move, or copy an item to the Journal (such as an email) and
create and save the entry it's fine. I can reopen the item and view the
original email with no problem. However once I delete the email from the
inbox and then empty the deleted items folder when I try to once again open
the email it is gone. I get two popups, the first being the security warning
about opening objects and the second that the item can not be found.
Currently I don't see an KB's for this problem occurring with Outlook 2007,
there is one for a previous version. However it suggests using the Edit Move
to Folder option to transfer an item to the Journal. I have done that as
well, and when I do that the email shows as an entry in the Journal, it can
be opened okay. However when I empty the deleted items folder, poof!

Kind of defeats the purpose of being able to track items if they all
disappear. Outlook 2007 seems to be very clunky when on Vista, at least from
my bad experiences so far. I had none of these issues with XP SP 2 and
Outlook 2007.

Any help out there?

I've tried re-installation, no help.

Sounds like you create a Journal entry with a shortcut to the original file
and not as an attachment. Of course, when you delete it then you can no
longer open the item.

If I "Move" the email to the Journal how could I be creating a link or
shortcut to the original?

I wish that I could find that KB Article again so that I could add the link.

In looking again through the Knowledgebase I finally found "OL2000: Error
Message: "This item can no longer be found."" Article 224878. Here is a clip
of it's information:

Method 1: Use the Edit Menu to Move the Item
1. Click the Outlook folder that contains the item that you want to move,
and then click the item that you want to move.

NOTE: Do not double click the item that you want to move, or the item will
open.
2. Click Edit on the Outlook menu bar.
3. Click Move to Folder.
4. Click to select the new folder that are moving the item to, and then
click OK.
5. Click Save and Close.

Method 2: Drag the Item
Right-click and drag the item to the folder you want, and then release the
right mouse button to place the item in the new folder. When you receive a
prompt with a list of actions to perform, select Move Here as new folder type
with Attachment, where new folder type is the type of folder into which you
are moving the item.

Since I tried using the Move to Folder option with no success I submit that
there is some sort of problem that does not have anything to do with the
process of getting it into the journal!
