Lose the caps lock.

MSN doesn't allow access to Hotmail accounts from Outlook unless you pay
them for the privilege.

I've been using it for the past year - no problem w/out paying.
However, my motherboard blew yesterday, so I had to buy a new tower.
I re-installed Microsoft Office and set upt the "FREE" Hotmail email account
in Outlook like before (expecting to pick up where I left off). It worked
once or twice, but then I received the same error msg.

When did they start charging?

September 2004 was the beginning of the change, IIRC.

Did you give your new PC the EXACT name your old one had? I don't know that
would work, but it's worth a try, especially if it was working just a few
days ago.

if you previously used http access in outlook, it should continue to work.
if the error is the same as below, it's a script error and it'll get fixed
in a few days.

Thank you for you input Brian. However, I called the Microsoft Customer Svc
toll free # and after about an hour, the rep was able to figure out what had
happened. The new computer came with a trial version of Office ( which
includes Outlook). I had already reinstalled my Office suite of apps from the
original CD I'd purchased. The office utility clean up clued the rep in that
I had 2 instances of Outlook on the same machine.

Resolution: Everything worked fine once the trial version was removed & the
PC rebooted.

This
The new computer

and this:
so I had to buy a new tower

don't mean the same thing to me. If my motherboard blew, I'd replace it, if
I could. Replacing "the tower" would, to me, mean replacing the case and
motherboard, but not necessarily the hard drives and other peripherals. I
didn't equate it with "new computer".

Anyway, I'm glad it's fixed.
