Outlook Message drag-and-drop to Bound Object Frame

D

Dan Haygood

When I drag an Outlook message to the desktop, and then drag the file to a
Bound Object Frame on an Access form, I get a message icon in my frame; I
can double-click on it, and it opens in the Outlook message editor. All is
well.

When I drag a message directly from the Outlook window onto the BOF control
on the Access form, I get the "Prohibited" cursor, and letting the mouse
button up doesn't (of course) do anything.

(1) Is there a way to convince Access or the BOF control that it should be a
target for the Outlook message drop?

(2) In the first case, where I can drop a file and it works, how can I force
that to be a link instead of (I assume) an embedment?

(3) Is there a control that can hold a collection of dropped OLE objects?

(4) With the miles and miles of registered classes on my machine, why can I
only "Insert Object" (rt. click on BOF) only 22 (or so) kinds of objects? I
notice that Outlook messages are noticeably absent, though most other Office
apps' documents _are_ there.

I am using Office2K on XPpro (I would be interested in hearing about OfXP
solutions as well.).

Thanks,
- Dan
