How does one find out what those little Outlook message list window icons or
symbols mean?

I usually don't, but then there is often no response either, so that is why
I did in this case. Seems there should be a way to find these icons and
what they mean in Outlook Help. Do you know if there is?

You'll find that particular website an excellent resource and should bookmark
it. It will answer most troubleshooting questions for Outlook that come up.
