I am trying to set up SMS through Outlook 2007 mobile service and in the
account settings, the password is greyed out and I cannot enter it. The OS
is XP Pro. Does anyone have a suggestion

I tried both through the wizard and direct entry, it is greyed out in both
cases. It is likely a security issue but I need to know what in order to get
IT to fix it. I have no problem entering the same settings at home where I
am Administrator.

Did you work through the wizard to set it up online?

Does it perhaps store the password in registry key that is locked under our
security template, or in an encrypted file somewhere that I dont have write
access to?

Not to my knowledge - it should be stored in the same password depository as
other passwords.
