Hi,
In the last few days, (possibly since I downloaded and installed the Office
2007 beta [NB I didn't install Outlook 2007 as the documentation warned that
you can't have both versions at once], and I installed Office 2007 in
addition to the 2003 version I am running, I even installed it to a
different folder location to try and ensure as much of the files were kept
separate), I have noticed that I am getting multiple instances of the
Outlook application's main interface in the task bar, which never used to
occur, I would always get one copy of the main page, and then different
icons for opened documents.
These icons are not for opened documents they are just multiple instances of
the main application interface.
I use "Mailwasher" by firetrust software as an anti spam tool and the way it
works is to periodically check for emails, it will then bleep to let me know
I have email. It then marks mails as either spam for deletion or from
friends (it uses a friends list and a black list) and when I have reviewed
its decisions I click a button to make it "process" the mails and it deletes
the spams and then opens Outlook so that I can do a send and receive thus
only getting the non-spam items.
Up until a few days ago that worked fine, and when I hit "Process" it would
switch to Outlook if it was open or it would open Outlook if I hadn't got it
open already. Now it always opens additional copies of the interface.
I haven't made any changes to Mailwasher since this started happening, so I
assume it must be something in Outlook that has changed. It feels like
prior to the problem, Outlook was checking to see if it was the only
instance running when Mailwasher tried to open it and if it wasn't it would
cancel the request to open a new copy and would then switch to the currently
running version. Now it doesn't seem to bother that there is already an
instance of itself already running and still opens a new instance.
Is there a setting in options that controls this or a reg hack that can be
done to stop it??
