Outlook needs IE 4.01 or greater

I have been using Office XP on an XP machine with IE 6 SP1 for a long time.
Lately, I can't open Outlook. A message pops up stating that "Outlook needs
Internet Explorer 4.01 or greater..." As stated, I have IE 6 SP1. I've
uninstalled and re-installed both Office and IE to no avail. I have made no
other changes to the system and have no other problems. Virus scans,
including HiJackThis are clean.

Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue, except that I am running the latest version of IE.

Try reregistering the OLE DLL. Click Start>Run, and enter

regsvr32 ole32.dll

Click OK.
