Outlook not autocompleting email addresses

Can anyone help? I am unable to get Outlook 2003 to
autocomplete email addresses when starting a new mail,
the way that Outlook Express does from the Contacts list.
I was able to get this feature to work in some earlier
versions of Outlook but not since Outlook 2000 so I am
wondering whether recent Outlook versions are able at all
to recognise email addresses in the Contacts file.

Outlook 2003 builds its autocomplete list gradually as you use the
addresses. It will use "autoresolution," however, the first time you use a
particular name.
