Outlook not linking to Internet Explorer

A friend has a computer running XP and Outlook. Something has
happened so that when she gets an email with a link, clicking the link
no longer opens the IE window or opens that web page if IE is already
open. I have told her to check the settings on the Internet Options
dialog box. Any other ideas if that doesn't work?

I'm not an Outlook user, so I have very limited experience with it.

what folder is she in when she clicks the links? Outlook blocks links in the
junk email folder for security purposes.

So what DOES happen when she clicks on a link? Any error message?
