Outlook notes problem

I've recently 'lost' all my Notes in Outlook 2007. I've tried to import the
Archive file to reinstate it but I am told the file is already in use in the
current profile. Any suggestions would be much appreciated as the Notes had a
lot of helpful information for me.

what happens when you click on the Notes folder?

Did you try opening the Archive folder and looking at the Notes there? Are
they there? If so, select them and drag to the primary Notes folder.

Hi Judy

Hope this helps

In Outlook 2007 I choose Notes - nothing is there now - used to have lots of
Notes.

So I clicked on File & select Import & Export and work through the menus
until I have got to the following file -

C:\users\user\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\backup.pst

When I select this I get "Cannot find this file, Verify the path & file name
are correct"

So I then use the Browse option and choose
C:\users\user\App Data\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst

Now I get "This Personal Folder's file (.pst) is already in use in the
current profile."

I've had a problem with back-up recently to my external drive so I suspect
that I have managed to totally lose my Notes data. Perversely Calendar &
Address Book are fine. I don't use Outlook e-mail as I have Incredimail.

So I don't know if any of this helps you to unpick my problem but I would
love to get the Notes back from the depths of the computer if at all
possible. As I empty the Recycle bin automatically I cannot use that route!

Some basic steps:

use the folder list view (bottom left corner) of the Navigation Pane
Do you see you archive folder? Are the Notes there?

If you don't see your archive folder, OPEN it. Do NOT import it.

File | Open | Outlook data file and browse to it.

Are the Notes in that Archive folder? Select the Notes and drag to Notes in
your primary folder.

If not, use the search function on your computer to find all .pst files and
repeat File |open to take a look in each of them

Hi Judy

I'm not sure how I got there but your suggestions certainly helped & it
looks like I've got the Notes back! I found most of them (as many as I can
remember having at least) in the Deleted items folders in Personal & Archive
Folders. So sigh of relief and many thanks for pointing me in the right
direction!
