Outlook offline address book sync issue

The following error is what several of our users are experiencing.

13:23:10 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
13:23:10 0X8004010F

This appears in the 'sync issues' folder, and seems to be repeated almost
(if not 100% of the time) every time the user sync's his folders.

I have tried to recreate a new .ost file, by backing up the old one and then
removing it from the directory and letting outlook recreate a default .ost
file.

This seemed to have worked at the time, but a day or two later I got an
email from the user saying the problem has cropped up again.

I'm not sure what to do. Any help you can provide me with would be greatly
appreciated.

The offline address book isn't in the OST. Instead, look for the OAB files
in (on WIndows XP)
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Does this mean I should try backing up the *.oab files and letting outlook
create a new batch? I'm kind of stuck as to what to do with this problem. If
you could also please try to explain what is actually going on, I would be
grateful.

We would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

Ordinarily, Outlook will simply recreate the OAB. I personally wouldn't
bother backing up the existing OAB files. You can, if you'd like.
We would like to prevent this from happening in the future.

There's no good indication as to why the sync failed, but there are a number
of mentions of that error at the MSKB.
