dude
Yesterday, we were hit by the blaster worm (yeah....got me running like
hell). Our Exchange 5.5sp4 servers run on a Win2k Advanced Server SP1
cluster. I was forced to install service pack 2 for Win2k because the
MS03-026 patch requires that. Ever since that, users who have Office 2000
versions less than SP-3 installed had freezing problems when viewing
calender. Pulling up Excel attachments end up with a "object linking and
embedding not found" error. There is also a Word error of some kind when
openning Word attachments. Once I place SP3 on there, everything works
fine. What I don't understand is, howcome this happened only after I
applied Win2k SP2 and hotfix for the worm on the Exchange server?? Exchange
itself wasn't patched or changed in anyway. I know Exchange rebuilds the
information store's index pages when an OS patch is applied. Could this
have caused it? The only document I could find regarding the freezing issue
while viewing calender is,
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;318305 . But this
still doesn't explain why it worked before when clients had Outlook 2000
with only SR-1 installed.
help please
