Outlook Opens two windows on start

Si

I recently switched to a new machine and installed a licensed copy of Office
2003 Pro. I imported my PST files for inbox etc and set up email accounts.

When I start Outlook now it opens two windows: one of personal folder home,
and another of inbox. I can close either one and still access all the data.

I checked and there are two profiles, but should I delete the unused one?

Thanks

You likely have a corrupt Outlook profile from the import. A Personal
Folders file should never be imported as profile corruption almost always
occurs, plus you lose the following information:

1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Copy your old .PST file(s) to the new machine and reuse it. You should also
create a new profile on the new machine to correct any possible corruption
issues.

Thanks for the info but I need some more specifics, and I will supply some as
well.

I did not import the Outlook.PST file because I have been told in the past
by Exchange Admins that this is where the profile corruption can occur.

What I did import were email backup PST files (inbox, sent, calendar, and
contact)
that I created during regular backups. All the email account settings were
created fresh on the new install.

Also what do you mean by "re-use".

Thanks,

Si

NEVER import a PST. There's no reason and you lose data.

In Control Panel>Mail, click Data Files>Add. Browse to your existing PST,
select it, and click OK. All done.
