Create an option in OUTLOOK's RULES and ALERTS that allows us to
automatically forward all rule-based unwanted email/spam messages back to the
sender's address multiple times all at once or over time to tie up their
inboxes. If enough OUTLOOK users learn how to do this, then perhaps we can
discourage spam, cause spam senders to have to work harder, and reduce their
effectiveness and intrusions. As well, have OUTLOOK developers include code
in the software so that unwanted email addresses are collected by Microsoft
from OUTLOOK users to see which email addresses are violating the rules -
then have Microsoft create blocks for users.
I am getting spam with no text in the body, just graphics containing text -
I suspect to prevent us rule-users from filtering the body for specific words.
Thererfore, add an option that allows the blocking of messages that contain
any kind of graphics.
And so we can take care of spammers who send these kinds of text messages
disguised as graphics, create OUTLOOK code that scans all graphics in an
email message automatically, and run optical character recognition to extract
out the words - in order to enable our RULES to filter graphics-based spam.
Once you enable us to do damage to their graphics-based spam, there is
little or no alternative for them to bypass our filters.
Another defense against spammers would be to put intense pressure on
companies such as YAHOO.COM (these are almost exclusively where the spams
come from) and other open email service providers by publically announcing
the incorporation of OUTLOOK filtering options to block out all email from
specific eamil providers, such as YAHOO.COM. Even though we can do it now
with the existing RULES options, having it show up as a button to choose
might tend to push them to monitor and clean up their own houses.
Be sure to start an aggressive public relations campaign against yahoo.com
or other such email service providers by appealing to existing MS OUTLOOK
users and future customers.
Announce that certain email providers will have their names automatically
included in RULES that will take effect after a specified number of
complaints from users are collected my Microsoft.
And, add the option of sending the spam email multiple times to the network
administrators themselves until they get the message and start policing thier
own systems.
This should creat a hell of a fire storm in the industry.
Microsoft will gain the admiration of its customers, and force real change
in the spam arena.
