Outlook/ Outlook Express Conflict with Nortons

I use Norton internet security. In order to receive email from my POP3 server
in Outlook express or Outlook, I have to turn OFF the firewall in Norton.
This only started happening a few months ago. I am wondering if there was an
update to Nortons or the Outlook programs which causes this problem? If so,
how is it corrected without turning off the firewall and putting my computer
at risk??

Has Outlook by mistake been denied Internet access from the firewall?
Check the list for the programs that has/has not Internet access rights

Thanks for your answer, but this is not the problem. I can still receive
emails from my HTTP server (msn/hotmail) in Outlook/Outlook Express.
The problem seems that Nortons Firewall is only blocking the POP3 and SMTP
server. It started occuring spontaneously a few months ago.

You need to check to see where you change this in your Norton firewall - POP
is 110, SMTP is 25 (by default). This is a Norton/Symantec issue, not an
MS/Outlook/OE one, and I don't use Norton so I don't know where you change
this.

I had a similar problem with a POP3 account and was able to get around
it by going into Norton's firewall settings and making the pop3
address a trusted site. ie"pop3.*****.net" If it is the best way to
handle the problem, I don't know.

I had used this pop3 account for years without listing it as a trusted
address in Norton's. I don't have any idea as to why it changed.
