Outlook Periodic Check [Exchange Server]

Hello, I use MS Outlook 2000 on Windows XP using a connection to an MS
Exchange Server. Is there anyway I can set up my client to only
exchange emails with the server on a periodic basis, or when I hit the
Send/Receive button (like a POP account) or is this entirely dictated
by the server?

Aloha (e-mail address removed),

Kinda impatient, aren't ya? Well I don't have any Outlook 2000 machines
still in production to look at, but...

....if I recall correctly you could set it to "work offline" and then it would
only try to connect to the server if you did a Send/Receive. Is there some
special reason why you want to handicap your mail client in that way?

sorry, but I felt like maybe it was impossible and that fact was not
being acknowledged.

it's too cumbersome. I don't have access to my folders.

It would be more productive and empowering for me to be able to control
when I receive my emails either periodically or by the simple push of a
button. It seems reasonable, rather than forcing someone shutdown and
re-start the client when they want to achieve this.

That's not true. WIth Offline Folders you can access your mail even with
the network cable unplugged.

Using Outlook in Offline mode will accomplish that.
