Outlook Personal Address book

L

lildon

I have NO address books in my outlook. I am trying to get one, as I am unable
to use my contacts for my email.

When I try to add a personal or an outlook address book, and click on NEXT,
I get the message .....The account you have added is not fully configured.
It might not work properly until fully configured. I click ok and it takes me
back to the previous screen to choose an address book.......and so on and so
on.

I have gone under help and configured outlook and that doesn't help.

And what version of Outlook are you using? (We're not psychic here you
know...)

Sorry....I thought of it just after I sent. I am using a 2002. I was able to
import all of my addresses into outlook express without a problem, but need
them in outlook. What else do you need from me?

Message means you have not set Outlook up with a valid mail account or
information store. Do so.

L

I have been sending and receiving mail for couple of months, so It seems i
have a valid mail account? but i will check on the information
store.................whatever that is.

Your other post indicates far deeper confusion on your part. Now that you
have brought Outlook Express into the picture, you need to start from the
beginning and post accurately the steps that created your problem and what
email program you are actually using.

I do not use outlook express at all. I only have addresses in it because I
trying to learn more about these programs.........

I removed the address book and tried to add it again because one of the
posts recommended that.....as nothing else worked to access my addresses from
my mail.

I do not know what created the the problem. My email account is AT&T.

I'd start with a new mail profile. Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add.
If you're using a POP account (and based on your mention of AT&T, you must
be using a POP account accessing Yahoo), point the new profile at your
existing PST (Personal Folders file - the "information store" Russ
mentioned).

No, That is how I got to where I am.......it will not let me add an address
book adter I removed it.

Does for everyone else.
So you removed Outlook Address Book and restarted Outlook.
Then what did you do and what happened?

I guess I am not smart enough to work with you guys......I have nothing to do
with yahoo......where did that come from?

I will play around with this, but initially, I am not accoumplishing
anything as you left me hanging at Add. I will keep playing around with it
and hopefully don't screw it up too much. Thanks for trying anyway

AT&T contracts with Yahoo for mail services.

Well, you still haven't botherd giving us any details on what type of
account you want to use so all we can do is guess and give some generic
advice. If you get spoecific in your description of your configuration
perhaps we can supply answers you can better understand.

L

lildon

I have answered all your questions best as I can............I know it is not
your fault. I am new to outlook and trying to learn all I can. Like I said, I
am not smart enough. I wasn't being critical. Anyway, I got a new profile set
up and was immediately able to import all my email addresses into the address
book and am now able to send emails with them..........Yeah!

One more question. Will I have to manually set everything else back up in
the new profile, like my shortcut bars? Or is there any way to merge that in
from one profile to another. I can probably figure this out, but If you can
help me, thanks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR...........

I'm not sure what shortcut bars you mean, but my opinion is that you're more
likely to have fewer problems if you reconfigure things manually.
