Outlook + POP3 mail + Firewall = Problems

Outlook with POP3 behind a firewall (router) is working fine as long as
the internett connection is not experiencing any problems.

But if it has been down for a short while, you're in for a lot of
frustrations, as mail reception (most often) stops working, and it's
not notifying you that it's not working, you just don't get any mails
any more (Sending usually keeps working).

Exiting outlook sometimes cures the problem, but mostly not.

Exiting, and killing the remaining OUTLOOK.EXE process often solves the
problem.

On rare occasions booting the PC solves the problem (XP).

On many occasions restarting the firewall solves the probem !

I've previously found info on the internett that Outook has problems
with certain firewalls.

I've experienced this problem for years now, and i've Only experienced
it with Outlook, not with any other mail programs.

The problem exist both for 2000 and 2003

I guess #¤%& microsoft think it's not a problem on their side, but
being able to gracefully getting out fault situations is in my opinion
something they should care about.

Could anyone kick some asses at microsoft ?

Here's part of log info from my firewall (It's working just fine with
tons of other traffic)

TCP Packet OutBound REJECTED : 192.168.0.120,4346 ->
nnn.nn.nn.nn,110[POP3] [TCP incomplete sessions overflow] or more
often : [First TCP Packet with no SYN]

Sorry if this one is already in here somewhere (not been looking to
much).

Anyone knows about another mail program with multi language spell
checking and calendar with pop up reminders ?

(Don't bother using my mail address for spam, it's not the one I
normally use)
