Outlook PowerToy installation issues

AC [MVP MCMS]

After installation of the Outlook PowerToy, it installed just fine, but I
don't see anything in Outlook that looks new... no new toolbars. I checked
the customization of the toolbar and didn't see anything new.

ideas?

Yes, Herb, that's what I said. My first install of this particular PowerToy
took three restarts for it to integrate. PowerToys, as you probably know,
are unsupported programs. I offered the suggestion which has worked for me
and others.

I wasn't disagreeing with you -- in any way.

Unsupported shouldn't mean completely unpredictable
though.

It is odd that any program improves after it's first restart,
it would be almost impossible for that to happen predictably
after two reboots. (Theorectically, the first reboot might
be the true install on a delayed file copy, and maybe it wouldn't
really work right until next time but that is just plain odd.)

I don't think my powertoys have hit at all yet; I had given up
on them, but perhaps after a few more restarts or reboots they
will work.

I will retain cautious optimism.

If I'm recalling correctly, I believe after two tries in Outlook and
actually restarted the whole system and that's when it finally kicked in.
Perhaps it has a link in the Registry that didn't get placed until
rebooting. I don't really know.

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

you do have the PIAs installed?

BTW - don't click on the outbox folder while this power toy is installed -
you'll need to open the items, change folders and hit Send.

If you install this PowerToy and you do not see the toolbar icons in
your Outlook standard toolbar this is because the Outlook 2003 .NET
Programmability Support is not enabled. To fix this you must:

1. Uninstall the PowerToy if you have already installed it
2. From the Start menu, select Control Panel, and click Add/Remove
programs.
3. Select Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003, and then select
Change.
4. Select Add or Remove Features and click Next.
5. Click choose advanced customization of applications.
6. Expand Microsoft Office Outlook, and confirm .NET Programmability
Support is set to Run from My Computer.

Then ofcourse re-install it and you will be fine.
