Printing from Outlook 2007 to a network shared printer is EXTREMELY SLOW. It
can take 15 minutes to print a 12 page email conversation. Outlook 2003 does
not have this problem. I have researched this for 2 days trying to find a
solution and have come up empty.
Server = SBS2008
O/S = Windows 7 or XP
When I click print it will flash “Connecting to Printer†about every 20
seconds or so. It takes about a minute to spool the first page. After the
first page prints it continues to flash “Connecting to Printerâ€.
I looked at the queue for the job. After the first page spools it shows 3
lines. Let’s say 4 pages have printed.
Line 1 – Main Document spool and overall size– Page # 6
Line 2 – Spooling and Printing Page # 5
Line 3 – Deleting – Page # 4
Word does not do this. It spools the entire document, prints and then
deletes all from one line. If I copy and paste the email into a word document
it will print normally. If I create a local printer using the share
\\server_name\share the document prints normally. I’m starting to fear my
only option is to create local printers for all users. I deployed the
printers using Group Policy Preferences. If I redeploy it will be confusing
to users as well as create long logins due to the amount of printers here. I
am trying to avoid this at all costs.
