I'm migrating from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003. My 5.5 org is on an old
NT4 domain that is being removed once exchange migration is complete. The
Exchange 2003 is on a Windows 2003 domain running in full 2003 level. I have
used the Interorg replication tool to copy free/busy and public folders
across and this is working great. Looking to Outlook profiles though I read
that you should create new. I recently came across Exprofre and thought
great that should be perfect. I should explain at this point that in testing
I change the hosts file on the local testrig (once mailbox is migrated) to
resovle the current 5.5 box name to the IP of the new Exchange 2003 box
instead. This is to simulate what I plan to do once migration is complete -
change the IP of the new server to the old 5.5 IP.
In testing though I have found that whether I use Exprofre or not everything
works great straight away except for one thing and that is the Contacts
folder is no longer set as an Outlook Address Book so you have to manually
go in and tick the box.
Does anyone know if there is a way to programatically (perhaps a reg key?)
set the Contacts folder to be enabled as an Outlook Address Book, and also
comment on whether I need exprofre or not bearing in mind clients will find
the new server on the old IP and as I say, I get the same results with or
without.
Thanks in advance
