Outlook - rebuilding Inbox

TK

I have a user running Outlook 2003 and it works fine in the office on the
laptop. When he is at home, he loads his vpn, loads Outlook and works.
When finished, closes Outlook, closes vpn and windows.
The next day when he loads Outlook, Outlook has to rebuld his Inbox...?
I know it is rebuiling his OST file.
Does anyone know why this might happen, after working remotely...?

Thanks,
Tom...

For whatever reason, Outlook isn't closing properly. Could be an addin. Try
opening Outlook in safe mode to see if the problem recurs. Beyond that,
you'd need to see what he's doing...try a remote console session with him at
home if you can.

Note that if you use E2003 or 2007, you don't need VPN for
Outlook/Exchange...you can use Outlook Anywhere/RPC over HTTP. Less of a
security risk and a lot more reliable (works on pretty much all networks).

He says rebuilding, but I didn't see it.

Thanks,

Is it checking the PST or actually rebuilding it?

if it is rebuilding, it sounds like its getting deleted. This only happens
when he switches from VPN to the office network, right, not when he uses
vpn?

Correct VPN to Office, not Office to VPN.
