Outlook Reminders

I have Outlook 2007 on a home computer and periodically I open Outlook to
have it impossibly slow only to have 900 or more reminders show up. I can't
figure out how they got set, because they include contacts and emails going
back to 2005. It will show overdue by 14 hours and take 5 minutes or more to
open the first and to clear the flag and take another 5 minutes to actually
clear. Then the reminders remaining will show they are due in something like
14 minutes. I have dismissed all several times in the past 6 months to only
have them continue to reappear. Does anyone else have this problem?

Have you tried starting Outlook once with the /cleanreminders command
switch?
