Outlook repeatedly prompts to send unwanted email

Jason

I use IMAP to manage my emails in Outlook. Recently, every time I open
Outlook it prompts for my password to send email although I did NOT compose
any new email. The outbox is empty. When I open the root folder of my IMAP
account in Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store Viewer (MDBVU32.exe) I
see several spam messages that all of them have "Not read:" at the beginning
of their titles. Although I delete these spam emails (abort submit then
delete) they appear again. Sometimes there are a lot, sometimes a few. None
of these messages are in the email provider's Web site. Please let me know
how I can resolve this issue. Thanks.

see http://www.slipstick.com/problems/rr_ndr.asp - mark messages read in the
junk folder before deleting and it should stop the problem. If the server is
deleting them (such as gmail's 30 day delete) mark the junk mail read every
now and again so the old stuff is marked read when its deleted.
